Radio Soap Opera: About us
Radio drama (soap opera) Zhyttia vidstanniu u desiat' khvylyn (Life in a distance of ten minutes) is produced by the Center for Ukrainian Reform Education with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development and Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
The radio soap opera promotes ideas of civil society and local community development through dramatically presented situations of everyday life. In ten-minutes long episodes the main characters of the soap opera depict modern Ukrainian society with its wide range of problems and contradictions, and offer practical solutions. Aired on weekdays at 3:30p.m. on UR-1 and at 11:05 on UR-2, Promin, the soap opera has the audience of over two million listeners. In addition to to the nation-wide broadcast, it is aired by partner regional FM-stations.
Among the issues already covered were how to exercise public control over the elected deputies, how to start a business, energy conservation advice, taxation issues, labor relationship, how to set up an NGO to protect rights of a community, how to secure independence of a media, local self-governing, reform in agricultural sector, etc.
Duration of each episode - 10 minutes.
Schedule
Radio drama is broadcast on weekdays (Monday-Friday) at 15.30 (National Radio Channel UR-1) and at 11.05 (UR-2 "Promin" Radio Channel).
One can also hear radio series on several Ukrainian regional radio stations and in the Internet.
We are planning to enlarge our broadcasting network. All interested broadcasting stations are invited to cooperation. We can free of charge provide you with records and rights for broadcasting every month. We are convinced that innovative, qualitative and socially useful product will increase the rating of your broadcasting station. The only term of cooperation - providing us with your media plan and broadcast reference.
